BOB HOPE CLASSIC (POKER STYLE)

Of course before we begin, a reminder that the next tournament is Thursday, June 5th at 11am SHARP....GET IN!

For the night portion of the doubleheader, we had 5 players...Randall, DRose, Edge, Clutch and Vinny Masil. The chips started flying fast and furious as raising was the name of the game on this night! Right away Vince crippled Edge as they both had a flush but Vin's King high flush beat Edge's queen-high (in what would be a tough theme of the night for Edge). Eventually Edge would be all-in with AQ and Randall would call with AK. The flop came Q73, giving Edge the huge advantage and when a jack hit on the turn, Edge was an 84% percent favorite to stay alive. But Randall hit one of his 7 outs when the King hit and Edge was out early in a rare early exit for Edge.

Vince Masi would be the next one to put all his chips in the middle and DROSE would call with about 250 more chips than Masil. Vince flipped over a 44 and it was strictly a race situation when DROSE flipped over A10. Vince would double-up because DROSE's hand did not improve. On the very next hand Clutch sensing the possibility that DROSE might be on tilt, pushed all-in in front of David Rose and he immediately called. Clutch flipped over AJ and DROSE again flipped over A10. The board came three 8's and some junk and DROSE would be out in 4th place.

That left Clutch as the clear chip leader because he had been using the strategy of raising to 80 almost every hand. The power of 80 would go away as Clutch would double up both Randall and Vince Masi and it left the table fairly balanced. Vince Masi would take the chip lead when he continued to play aggressive and take chips from both Randall and Clutch.

Clutch went all-in with Randall in the big blind. Randall made the great call with AJ and Clutch sheepishly flipped over A10. Randall was in good position to double-up but in a remarkable run that has lasted nearly the whole season, Randall was to the rail by Clutch when a 10 showed up in the window on the flop and there was no Jack to be found.

This left Clutch heads up with Vince but Clutch had about a 2-1 chip lead to start the heads-up play. Remarkably everybody left when heads-up play started so it was just Vince and Clutch chatting it up. Right off the bat Vince would turn the tables on Clutch and made a great play with Aces. He just called the big blind and when Clutch looked down at JJ, he went all-in and Vince quickly called. The board did not help Clutch and Vince now had the 2-1 chip lead. Neither player made any big moves, basically one player would go all-in the other would flow. Vince continued to lean on Clutch but Clutch eventually would start fighting his way back. After about 40 minutes of heads-up play, Clutch got back to 1150 chips (compared to Vince's 1350). Clutch would push all-in with A9 and when Vince looked down at AK he quickly called. However, the Clutch snakebites would continue as Clutch nailed a 9 on the turn and would take all but 200 of Vince's chips. Clutch would take Vince out a hand later when Vince went all-in with K8 vs Clutch's A10. Clutch would hit a 10 on the flop and spike an ace on the river as he lived the charmed life during the Bob Hope Classic.
