2009 Season is Off and Running

The 2009 season is off and running, as 9 events have been held, and we've had 8 different winners. Last year's regular-season champ Jason Vida is the only player with multiple wins on the season, but he's in 3rd place in the current standings. Harry Dang is on top, and newcomer Gregg Found is in 2nd after one event played in. Found also had a big win with the Kamalakin Makin progressive jackpot. After Edge won $8 in the first event of the year, it took us until the 8th event to have another winner. Found took down $51 with his Kamalakin elimination...

Next event is the Kenton Wong Farewell tournament, and keep an eye out for 2009's first major on April 12th - The Tradition. $45 buy in for that, and the pot is already up to $67.

And of course, the all-important Bonanza Jackpot has already crossed the $200 threshold -- we're at $201 and still a week left in February. Last year, for the season, the Bonanza ended at $712!!

Good stuff so far this year, that's for sure!

Brief standings are to the left, but expanded standings are right here for all to enjoy:

One More Thing

Forgot to mention that the Bonanza pot stands at $712. If the 16 people we expect to show are at the Bonanza, that means the prize pool that will be at stake is going to be approximately $1,070. Remember, the Bonanza buy-in is $25, not the usual $22. The extra $3 per person will go toward trophy, drink, etc.

Randall Sweeps, 52 Irving Poker Bonanza Standings Set

On Conference Championship/De La Hoya vs PacMan Saturday, 52 Irving Poker League held events number 51 and 52 of the season, likely to be the final events before the year-end Bonanza. The first event was a 5-man tourney won by Randall, and C-Lees got his first career cash... but the total number of players left Greg Dohmann at 47 AB for the year. That's 3 AB short of what is necessary for Bonanza qualification, so the group rallied late and decided to go with the double dip. And around 4:30 AM, Randall took that event down as well. Now we have 18 qualifiers for Sunday's Bonanza. Here are the extended standings, note the 4 wins for Randall when he had zero entering the month of November. He's getting hot at the right time. Below are the extended standings for the players that have qualified, with the numbers for non-qualifiers below them. Also, I've put below the standings the percentage of the chips that people will be starting the Bonanza with:

Name, BA, H-AB, Wins, Cashes

1) Vida, .859, 61-71, 4, 7
2) Clutch, .855, 218-255, 12-20
3) J-Mac, .744, 212-285, 8, 17
4) Kenton, .696, 55-79, 2, 4
5) Paul, .681, 47-69, 2, 3
6) Yinz, .679, 108-159, 3, 6
7) Randall, .675, 108-160, 4, 8
8) Willis, .667, 164-246, 5, 8
9) Vince, .643, 101-157, 4, 7
10) Bearman, .629, 78-124, 1, 6
11) Ketaineck, .580, 83-143, 1, 6
12) Edge, .558, 111-199, 1, 4
13) D-Rose, .534, 38-73, 2, 2
14) Dohmann, .453, 24-53, 1, 2
15) Nick, .439, 25-57, 1, 1
16) Fallica, .431, 31-72, 1, 1
17) C-Lees, .420, 42-100, 0, 1
18) Harry, .277, 18-65, 0, 0

Non-Qualifiers:
McKean, .630, 17-27, 0, 2
McCrystal, .611, 22-36, 0, 1
Elias, .541, 20-37, 0, 2
Lundblad, .417, 5-12, 0, 0
Stu, .150, 3-20, 0, 0

Unfortunately, we will be missing Kenton and Matty K. for the Bonanza. So the following math is if all the other 16 qualifiers sit down for the Bonanza. There will be a total of 9,544 chips in play.

Percentage of Chips Held at Start of Bonanza

Vida: 9.00%
Clutch: 8.96%
J-Mac: 7.80%
Paul: 7.14%
Yinz: 7.11%
Randall: 7.07%
Willis: 6.99%
Vince: 6.73%
Bearman: 6.59%
Edge: 5.85%
D-Rose: 5.60%
Dohmann: 4.75%
Nick: 4.60%
Fallica: 4.52%
C-Lees: 4.40%
Harry: 2.90%

So there it is. See you all on Sunday for the first Bonanza in 52 Irving history...

The Monster Mash

Let me tell you...it was a graveyard smash. Yes, nine 52 Irving Poker League members gathered Halloween night for a night full of spooks, ghouls and flops. Unfortunately, we didn't really take notes, because, in the words of Rick James, "Sorry Charlie, I was having too much fun."

A couple key hands. Early on, Randall was all-in with pocket 3's against Yinz pocket aces. Both flopped set, Randall picked up a Kamalakin-Makin draw on the turn, but hit the 4th 3 on the river to stave off elimination and put a big hit on Yinz stack.

The two big stacks battled 4-handed, as Willis pushed all-in with the nut straight and got a call from C-Lees and his pair of aces. Willis doubled up to a monster chip stack.

It got down to heads-up behind Small Market Love members, Yinz and Willis. Rumors of a feud were denied, and the two played a gentlemenly game of poker. Willis's K-Q outdrew Conlon's medium ace when Conlon was all-in pre-flop for his 5th win of the season.

Anyways, here's the finishing order, points are out of 9 at-bats.

9th: J-Mac (1 pt)
8th: Clutch (2 pts)
7th: Harryhoa (3 pts)
6th: Matty K (4 pts)
5th: Vinny Masil (5 pts)
4th: C-Lees (6 pts)
3rd: Randall (8 pts; 7 + 1 for cash)
2nd: Yinz (9 pts; 8 + 1 for cash)
1st: Willis (11 pts; 9 + 1 for cash + 1 for win)
