Thursday 4/10 Recap - IMPROMPTU GAME

Hey all -
I know the first thing many of you are saying, is wow, I didn't even realize there was a game Thursday? Well if you asked that aloud, you would be correct. However, Wednesday evening, one of our favorite Elias guys, Randy Robles, asked me about the chance of an impromptu game taking place Thursday morning. I immediately got thumbs up from Willis, JMAC and Paul Carr giving us five. I looked at the schedule and called anyone who could play. We were able to land Edge, who was fresh off his trip to Tampa and we have 6 for a nice Thursday morning game.

Of course before I hop into the recap, let me start by saying that next week's game will be another morning affair. We will play sharply at 11:15am (so Randall can play following his Mike and Mike shift) on Monday, April 14th.

Ok so the early action produced a lot of chips flying. Willis lost a big pot to JMAC early but Willis gathered a big pot a few minutes later when Randy went all-in with 33 on Willis's big blind. Willis called with AQ and when the A hit on the flop, Willis had gotten healthy and Randy lost a lot of chips. Randy ended up going all in the next time he was in the small blind and Willis called him again with AQ and Robles showed 7-10. A ten and ace hit on the flop and when a queen hit on the turn, Randy's day was done in 6th place. Clutch was now the low stack and went all-in with 4-way action on 8-8-2-4 board. Willis quickly called with 44 to show the full boat. However Willis's unlucky river beats continued when an 8 hit on the river giving Clutch a better full house. But Clutch's luck was short lived when he went all-in shortly thereafter. Edge called and flipped over AK which dominated Clutch's A8. The board came all blanks and Clutch was sent to the rail in 5th place.

Willis was next to go when he got his hand caught in the cookie jar. JMAC raised preflop and Willis called. A king high flop came and Willis bet out and JMAC called. The turn came the same sequence. On the river, Willis went all-in and JMAC hemmed and hawwed for awhile before finally calling. JMAC flipped over AK to show a pair of kings and Willis folded and was done in 4th place. That left the table 3-handed with JMAC having a pretty hefty lead. Chips flew back and forth before Edge crippled Paul Carr. Paul Carr went all-in with Q8 and Edge called with A5. The turn hit a 5 and Paul Carr was nearly out of chips. JMAC finished him off with AK vs A6 meaning three players were eliminated with AK (the other with AQ).

Headsup action last awhile between JMAC and Edgerton. It was highlighted by one of the biggest hand over another hand seen at 52 Irving. JMAC held a huge chip lead over Edge and Edge had already doubled up once when this crazy hand occurred. The two players limped before the flop. The flop came A4A and both players checked. The turn came an 8 and again both players checked. The river came a 2. JMAC bet 150 and Edge went all-in. JMAC quickly called and showed 44 for the full house. Edge flipped over 2 aces to show that he had flopped quads. The table was stunned and Edge had taken the chip lead. It was the 2nd time that we had seen pocket fours turn into a full house only to lose. It was also the 2nd time that we had seen a player flop quads as Willis had done that earlier but couldn't draw any action.

The two players continued heads up for a while. JMAC took the chip lead back when he rivered a better straight over Edge. The hand that crippled JMAC was when both players limped in. The flop came 8d-7d-4s. JMAC went all-in and Edge quickly called the all-in as he flopped the straight with 5-6. JMAC flipped over Kd-Qd and had flush draw. The board hit two blanks for JMAC and he was left with under 200 chips. JMAC went in blind a few times before getting called by Edge when he had JJ. JMAC showed Q5 and when the board hit all blanks for JMAC, Edge had his first 52 Irving win this season.
